Company History


Our story begins several years ago when the six sisters started talking about opening a shop to sell Buffalo meat, raised by our sister, Suzi and her husband, two miles east of the Swamp Sisters.  After much debate about location, we came to the conclusion that the old farmstead where we grew up would be the best place to work together on our project.

By 1999 we had the first part of our building, the barn-shaped part, erected.  We opened in October to sell bison meat and craft items produced by many of our neighbors.  We called ourselves Swamp Sisters because our relatives had joked about our family trying to farm in a swamp.  Not having any business experience or any business plan in place, we decided to find out what really interested people in the community and go from there.  It soon became evident that there was a need in the neighborhood for a place to gather for a relaxing cup of good coffee, home cooked food, and a place to enjoy the farm environment,  Soon we were working on an addition to the east side of the original shop.  By 2003 we were serving breakfast items and have since added a lunch menu,
